View Full Version : 2 Kegs - 1 CO2 - Kegging Question

I have an American amber tapped now in my kegerator and I just racked a Belgian pale ale to keg.
I ordered a CO2 manifold, but it won't be here until the end of the week and I'd really like to get a head start on carbing the pale ale.
If I hook up the gas to the pale ale (moving it back to the amber for serving), would the amber be OK or would it go flat?

I do belive it would be ok as long as the keg its self stays pressurized. I mean pop stays ok after u open the bottle but I wouldn't count on it staying the same for very long. But I trust you could finish it soon!

yeah that is fine, I have 6 kegs in my fridge and only 2 gas outlets. If there is a lot of drinking from the ones not on gas I will just gas them back up at the end of the night.

It'll be fine. I have one gas hook up I switch between 4 kegs, no problem. You don't even have to switch back to serve. There's so much pressure in their I've served an entire keg without switching the gas back over to it. I have tubes split to give me 3 gas hook ups, but they were leaking and i haven't taken the time to fix them. I'd rather just open the door and switch it over.

You will be fine. If you pour the amber, just hook it back up every 5-10 pints.

Great, thanks for the feedback.
I thought it would be OK to unhook the gas, I didn't realise I could leave it unhooked and continue serving, that'll make my life even easier. 8)

yea, like I said, I've served whole kegs of just an initial force-carbing and maybe a few days attached after. But, it was pouring slow by the end. I usually swap back every 5 to 10 pints like DS said.
